The rats were everywhere, causing damage and spreading diseases. The mayor of the town decided to hire a piper to get rid of the rats. The piper agreed and started playing his magic pipe. The rats were charmed by the music and followed the piper out of the town and into the river, where they all drowned. However, when the piper came to collect his payment, the mayor refused to pay him the full amount they had agreed on. The piper was angry and vowed to get his revenge.
